Over 80% of Spaniards say that they have no particular difficulty in accessing banking services, at similar levels to access to education, according to surveys. They also think that banks are one of the services to have improved the most over the last year along with shops and schools

The banking associations have held a meeting with Carlos Cuerpo, Minister of Economy, Trade and Business, which was also attended by representatives of financial users, organisations for the elderly and people with disabilities, the Bank of Spain and the Ombudsman

The Spanish Banking Association (AEB), CECA and the National Union of Credit Cooperatives (Unacc) have held a meeting with Carlos Cuerpo, Minister of Economy, Trade and Business, which was also attended by representatives of financial users, organisations for the elderly and the disabled, the Bank of Spain and the Ombudsman. The banking associations have been able to demonstrate improvements in financial inclusion due to the measures put in place by the industry.

AEB, CECA and Unacc have unveiled the results of the “Report on Financial Inclusion in Spain 2024” by the Valencian Institute of Economic Research (IVIE), which concludes that 99.3% of the Spanish population has access to banking services. Since the implementation of the Roadmap measures, 322,049 people and 889 towns have been provided with in-person service.

At the meeting with the Ministry of Economy, the banking associations also underscored continuous performance tracking and active listening processes in financial inclusion. AEB, CECA and Unacc have released the results of a survey conducted by Inmark, which reveals that 74% of people over 65 are aware of the ten measures to improve personalised care.

Likewise, more than 80% of Spaniards say that they do not find it particularly difficult to access banking services, at similar levels to education, and feel that banks are some of the most improved service providers in the last year along with shops and schools.
