This issue of Papeles de Economía Española seeks to provide an initial overview of the main changes that banking and, more broadly, the financial system, have undergone as a result of the pandemic and the new horizon that is opening up as the worst effects and restrictions derived from the pandemic subside. The analysis devotes special attention to the Spanish financial sector. The overview focuses on both supply and demand, and many institutional, regulatory and monetary policy issues are covered.
