The commitment of the sector CECA with the most vulnerable people is materialised in an investment of 1.34 millions in group' training with specific needs

The saving and the management of budgets, the sustainability, the digitisation, the cybersecurity and the investment services are situated between priorities training areas

The sector CECA is consolidated as one of the largest investors in financial education of Spain, having destined nearly 18 million euros in the last six years

 

CECA, its associated companies and its foundation Funcas invested 2.58 million euros during 2023 to promote more than 100 programmes, aimed at strengthen the financial education in Spain and distributed in 6,362 activities, which an increase has supposed of more than 50% with respect to the previous year. During this period, were registered more than 33.8 million impacts, between attendees in person and digitalaccesses [ 1 ], with a growth of more than the double in digital impacts with respect to 2022. The financial education of the sector CECA, commitment with all the groups

The financial education is fundamental for the people' financial well-being and of the homes, more if fits in the current context of uncertainty, with periods of registration inflation, irruption of criptomonedas and rise of the phishing. Today more than is never necessary to continue improving the company's financial culture with the aim of having financially responsible people that they know manage in an efficient way its resources and properly use the digital new technologies. For this reason, for the sector CECA, the financial education is an absolute priority, as well as a significant lever to improve the life of people, especially of the groups more vulnerable.

The companies associated with CECA are aware of these needs and via its programmes, share its experience, knowledge and capillarity all over the country, attending to young, adults and great. Via its projects, promote the improvement of the financial culture, which promotes the stability of the financial system, the financial inclusion and the social cohesion. By age-group, 59% of the investment (1.51 million euros) was allocated to projects directed to people under 25 years old. Specifically, 23.5 million impacts belonged to the group of childhood and youth. With regard to the group sénior, in 2023, a growth has been registered in the investment of more than 24%. In addition, the activities directed to this group have been increased more than 48%, CECA registering more than 3.6 million impacts.

CECA's commitment to the most vulnerable people is part of the DNA of all its projects. The proof of that is that more than 1.34 million euros were directed to specific groups. Similarly, the activities have increased 68.64% (with more than 2,600 activities) and the accesses in person and digital have done it by 57.44% reaching more than 14 million impacts.

By specific groups, 47% of the investment was allocated to people at risk of social exclusion, followed by the people with special needs (28.21%) and of the training programmes for entrepreneurs (24.78%).

The areas that received the most investment include the following: saving, expenditure and budgets (27.68%); sustainability, digitisation and cybersecurity (19.78%); products and services of investment (15.52%); banking products and services (13.43%); insurance (10.48%); and rural enterprise and world (7.37%).

 

The sector CECA, one of the largest investors in financial education of Spain

In the last six years, the total investment destined from the sector CECA to the improvement of the financial culture has reached the 17.9 million euros, of which 12.79 millions correspond to the ‘Programme Funcas of Stimulus of the Financial Education (Funcas Educates)’. This programme enables CECA's member entities, either directly or through their related foundations, to promote existing projects or new initiatives to meet the needs detected in society.

This investment has allowed the development and strengthening of the financial education in Spain, benefiting to various groups and contributing to the sustainable development. For the year 2024, the resource of Funcas Educates has reached the 2.5 million euros.

 

The financial teaching of basic literacy of the young, key for the progress

CECA and Funcas collaborate with the performance of initiatives protected in the current Education plan Financial 2022-2025, boosted by Banco de España, Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV) and Ministry of the Economy, Trade and Company. Within the framework of this plan, is celebrated annually on the Day of the FinancialEducation. This year, under the slogan “digital Finances: learns, moves forward, innovates”, will put on the focus in the financial education of the young and in the management of its personal finances in the digital environment. In addition, special attention will be provided to the training in digital abilities, specifically in the need of knowing the risks that involves the use of the technology.

The education way free people and, in a world in which the economy is present in all the sectors and is part of our day by day, the financial culture squatter a fundamental place. The financial teaching of basic literacy in early phases prepares to children and young to confront the economic challenges of the adult life; for example, pay invoices, request a credit and know its cost or plan the retirement.
