Disruptive technologies also have a positive impact on the social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities by improving the doctor-patient relationship. Find out how in the new podcast
It may seem contradictory to use a technological device between a doctor and patient to remove barriers, but the truth is that the use of 3D glasses with people with intellectual disabilities has proved to be very positive in reducing their fear of healthcare staff.
Virtual and augmented reality is part of the "Health Desensitisation" project organised by Fundación Caja Navarra, the aim of which is to promote the social inclusion of this group of people who show a particular rejection towards doctors and nurses. "These technologies are making a very positive contribution", says María Aragón in the new episode of Ideas con Valor, a nurse at the Isterria Special Education Centre in Navarre, a school set up by the Foundation, which detected the problems encountered by students during medical visits.
Their function is to be able to anticipate as realistically as possible what is going to transpire. "Using 3D glasses, students are given a preview of their visit to the infirmary and the procedures that are going to be performed, in such a way that it allows them to understand what is going to take place, giving them the time they need to assimilate it and so that when the time comes it will be a positive experience [...] because there is nothing as powerful as the tangible and experiential".
This is yet another of the success stories of the social work undertaken by the Spanish Confederation of Savings Banks (CECA), which last year alone invested €800 million in actions geared towards vulnerable groups, education, culture, the environment and sport, among others.
Find out more about the positive impact of the "Health Desensitisation" project on these young people from relatives and staff from the Fundación Caja Navarra and the school in the latest episode, available on Ivoox, Spotify and Apple Podcast.
This section flows in two forums. On Wednesday, 31 May, we held the 7th edition of the Ideas con Valor forum, in which twenty experts and fund managers shared investment proposals to help in financial decision-making. The 6th edition of the Blockchain & Crypto-assets forum will be held in November, where experts and entrepreneurs will also share value propositions for companies in the so-called decentralised economy. We will keep you posted.
