The 35th ordinary session of the Board of Trustees of Fundación Carolina was held at Palacio de la Zarzuela, with His Majesty the King acting as honorary chairman. The event brought together the President of the Government and Executive Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Pedro Sánchez; the first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero; and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albaras. Attendees representing trustee companies included CECA's CEO, José María Méndez.
The session approved the Foundation's 2025 Action Plan, which includes a call for postgraduate and doctorate training of 735 scholarships: 10% more than in the previous edition.
The plan includes key developments, such as the significant increase in human rights and democracy scholarships; the creation of a new programme with the Ibero-American Social Security Organisation; and the extension of the mobility programme with the CSIC. The 2025 Action Plan, marking the 25th anniversary of Fundación Carolina, is set to expand partnerships and networks, prioritising a “multi-stakeholder approach”, in order to consolidate a robust and stable platform of relations between its members.
The event was also attended by the Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Pilar Alegría; the Minister of Economy, Trade and Business, Carlos Cuerpo; the Secretary of State for Latin America and the Caribbean and Spanish around the World, Susana Sumelzo; the Secretary of State for International Cooperation, Eva Granados; the Director of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, Antón Leis; the Director of Cultural and Scientific Relations of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, Santiago Herrero; and the Director General for Ibero-America and the Caribbean, Francisco Javier Gassó.
