From 15 to 17 May 2024, more than 75 delegates from member entities of the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute (WSBI) convened at CaixaBank's head office in Barcelona for the multidisciplinary conference: Banking Innovation Expedition: Exploring Retail Banking and SME Empowerment. In various presentations and sessions, participants - from 26 countries across four continents - were immersed in the bank's working model during the WSBI Innovation Conference. Among them, Adrián Lorenzo, from CECA's Institutional Relations Department.
AI and best practices in cybersecurity, operational risk mitigation, sustainable banking and improving the customer experience were some of the topics discussed. In addition, representatives from the compliance and legal departments detailed how they support back-end and front-end activities in today's complex and ever-changing regulatory environment.
There, the CEO of WSBI-ESBG, Peter Simon, explained that WSBI leads transformative initiatives, being first and foremost a global network driven by a spirit of collaboration. He added that 'such meetings respond to the needs of our partners and are essential to foster social progress and inclusive growth through the exchange of best practices'.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of CaixaBank, José Ignacio Goirigolzarri, pointed out in his welcome speech: ‘The way CaixaBank understands the business is through a very distinctive banking vision. A vision that is inclusive and very close to the real economy'.
