• Bizum, Bancomat, SIBS-MB WAY and Vipps MobilePay, members of the Alliance Europe, and the Initiative of European Payments (EPI) sign a memorandum of understanding to interconnect solutions of payments of its respective countries that will benefit to more than 330 million inhabitants of 13 European Union countries.

CECA, the Spanish Banking Association (AEB) and the National Credit cooperatives Union (Unacc) back the beginning of the interconnection's implementation phase of European fee-paying solutions Bizum, Bancomat, MB WAY, Vipps MobilePay and Wero/EPI, that it will allow enabling cross-border payments Europe-wide fluids and insurance.

More than 330 million inhabitants of 13 European countries will be able to send and receive payments from its usual national application to users of other countries of the European Union, with the same fee-paying experience of its country, which strengthens the strategic autonomy of Europe in payments and the operation of the single market.

The project leans on the use of infrastructures and standards European, and it will allow, in a first phase, cross-border payments between individuals (P2P), and, subsequently, will be fitted out also payments in physical and electronic businesses.

The initiative begins now its implementation phase after the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the creation of a hub head office of interoperability, that it will connect the fee-paying platforms already existing nationals. This will allow reducing the dependence of international actors and move forward in the technological sovereignty and financial of the European Union.

CECA, AEB and Unacc, such as members of the European associations of the financial sector (EBF, ESBG and EACB, respectively), vindicate this type of private enterprises led by the industry, that they drive the innovation and the efficiency, leaning on the infrastructure, the technological scale and skills of the banking sector and suppliers of services of European payments.

In the case of Spain, Bizum, the solution of immediate payments boosted by the banking sector, continues its national growth and its international expansion.

In 2025, the number of users grew 13.2%, above 30 millions, were completed 3.4 million bizums every day, with a value higher than the 67,000 million euros, and 111,000 businesses and platforms of e-commerce use already Bizum as a payment method. In addition, from March 2025, Bizum allows the cross-border payments in Italy, Portugal and Andorra.
