The agreements regulate bank information requests through the Judicial Neutral Point

Through this service, judicial bodies can quickly and securely request the necessary information for the processing of legal proceedings, as well as order the execution of legal actions such as the freezing or seizure of assets

The Spanish Banking Association (AEB), CECA and the National Union of Credit Cooperatives (UNACC) have signed today with the General Council of the Judiciary (GCJ) the addenda to the agreements signed in 2020, in order to extend the collaboration agreement to include the Public Prosecutor's Office and the European Public Prosecutor's Office.

These agreements allow judicial bodies, and henceforth also the Public Prosecutor's Office and the European Public Prosecutor's Office, to systematise the processing of requests for banking information on individuals and legal entities held by financial institutions that have adhered to the agreements in force between the GCJ and the aforementioned associations, or which adhere in the future, using the services of the Judicial Neutral Point. This also improves the processing times of cases and the security of transactions.

The Judicial Neutral Point, launched by the GCJ in 2002, is a communications network through which judges and magistrates can search databases and connect with third parties, such as public administrations, professional associations, financial institutions and registries.

This latest development means that the financial sector remains at the forefront of the telematic services provided to help improve the efficiency of the administration of justice at the European level as well.
