On 25 and 26 May, the Madrid Bar Association is holding a new edition of the National Banking Law Congress, a benchmark meeting for professionals in the sector that has already established itself as a forum for debate and reflection on the transformation of the financial sector and, in particular, the constant regulatory developments. This edition brings together more than 50 banking experts: authorities, university professors, senior managers, executives and heads of credit institutions, representatives of public institutions and expert lawyers in the field who will give their views on the future of the financial legal sector and its relationship with users, Public Administrations and companies.

The different round tables will address issues of great importance and relevance such as supervision, compliance and corporate governance in the banking sector, the digital euro, the latest developments in crypto-assets, blockchain and banking legal security, the purchase and management of NPLs portfolios and Directive 2021/2167, the legal challenges for credit institutions, the different legislative projects and recent case law, company restructuring and the role of bank creditors and institutional financing for sustainable economic and social development. Among those attending were Pedro Giner, CECA's Legal Director, who took part in the first round table on the 25th: "Supervision, compliance and corporate governance in the banking sector", together with Eduardo Ávila, Head of Global Supervisory Relations BBVA, Ana Burgos, lawyer in the Division of Suitability and Registration of Senior Officers at the Bank of Spain, Lucía Calvo, director of Compliance, Regulation and Corporate Governance at Bankinter, Ignacio Caparroso, head of Regulation at the FROB, Pedro Cadarso, advisor on Prudential and Supervisory Issues at the AEB, Ignacio Caparroso, Head of Regulation at the FROB, Pedro Cadarso, Advisor on Prudential and Supervisory Issues at the AEB; the moderator was Carmen Alonso, former advisor to the Bank of Spain, Professor of Commercial Law and Chair of the Commercial Law Section of the General Codification Commission. In addition, Fernando Conlledo, Secretary General of CECA, will take part in the second presentation on Friday 26 May.
