In the new episode of Ideas con Valor, Javier Molina talks to Alberto Aza, CECA's spokesperson, to learn about the impact of this regulation on Obra Social

Last December marked the tenth anniversary of the enactment of the Spanish Law on Savings Banks and Banking Foundations (Law 26/2013). In the new episode of Ideas con Valor, Javier Molina talks to Alberto Aza, CECA's spokesperson, to learn about the impact of this regulation on Obra Social and the changes that have taken place since then.

'This law brought about a radical transformation, giving rise to larger and more solvent groups, and preserving the sector's hallmark, Obra Social, which is implemented by the foundations'. The importance of all this, as the spokesperson explains in the podcast, which is available on Ivoox, Spotify and Apple Podcast, is that, despite these profound changes, 'obra social has been strengthened, because this law recognises its importance as the distinguishing feature of these entities'.

To understand the actions they undertake, Aza gave several examples, starting with children who are born in a situation of social exclusion, 'and have been able to go to school with a certain degree of normality'. During the pandemic, for example, 'thousands of tablets were distributed to the most vulnerable families to tackle school drop-out rates'. Support for the elderly is also provided, among many other actions: 'With the elderly, in particular, the aim is to empower them to feel that they are not a burden, but that they can play a part and contribute'.
