The banking sector recognizes the progress of financial inclusion, reaching 99.3% of the population
AEB, CECA, and Unacc have emphasized that the financial inclusion measures implemented by the sector have reduced the number of people without access points in their municipalities by 50%, benefiting 322,049 individuals.
More than 80% of Spaniards claim they do not find it particularly difficult to access banking services, at levels similar to access to education, according to surveys. They also believe that banks are among the services that have improved the most in the past year, alongside retail stores and educational institutions.
The banking associations held a meeting with the Minister of Economy, Trade and Business, Carlos Cuerpo, which also included representatives of financial users and groups of seniors and people with disabilities, the Bank of Spain, and the Ombudsman.

In this framework, the banking associations were able to highlight the improvement in financial inclusion due to the measures implemented by the sector. AEB, CECA, and Unacc presented the results of the ‘Report on Financial Inclusion in Spain 2024’ from the Valencian Institute of Economic Research (IVIE), which concludes that 99.3% of the Spanish population has access to banking services. Since the implementation of the measures in the Roadmap, a physical point of attention has been provided to 322,049 individuals and 889 municipalities.
In the meeting with the Ministry of Economy, the banking associations also highlighted the continuous monitoring of progress and the processes of active listening regarding financial inclusion. AEB, CECA, and Unacc presented the findings of a survey conducted by Inmark, which reveals that 74% of individuals over 65 years of age are aware of the ten measures to improve personalized attention.
Furthermore, more than 80% of Spaniards assert that they do not encounter significant difficulties in accessing banking services, at levels comparable to education, and believe that banks are among those that have most improved their services in the past year, alongside retail stores and educational centers.
