Financial Institutions Advance Unemployment Benefits to Their Clients

The associations AEB, CECA, and UNACC, in collaboration with the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), are working to allow credit institutions to advance the payment of unemployment benefits in order to help mitigate the consequences of the health crisis on the most vulnerable groups.

Entities that voluntarily join the initiative will be able to proceed with the payment of said benefit promptly starting from April 3, ahead of the usual payment date. The scheduled payment date for this month of April was April 9.

Once again, banks offer their full cooperation to the authorities to alleviate the economic effects of the serious situation caused by the coronavirus and reaffirm their commitment to providing support measures to those affected by the halt in activity and who find themselves in a vulnerable situation.

This initiative adds to a series of measures already implemented, such as liquidity and financing facilities backed by the State so that companies and self-employed individuals can overcome the difficulties arising from the current situation, the mortgage moratorium for vulnerable individuals, or the postponement of rental payments for tenants in properties from the Social Housing Fund (FSV).
