The RFEF Joins CECA’s Program to Educate Athletes in Financial Education
• CECA and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) collaborate to provide footballers, referees, and coaches with training in Financial Education
• The course aims to provide athletes with the basic knowledge about finance so that they can manage their income and investments, offering them a flexible format that can be combined with their training and matches
• Currently, the project has 3 federations involved (Football, Swimming, and Athletics), along with the Higher Sports Council (CSD) and the Spanish Sports Association (ADESP)
The banking association CECA has announced the inclusion of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in its Financial Education project for athletes, with the goal of providing footballers, referees, and professional coaches with training to enhance their financial knowledge and help them manage their income during their sports careers. The course, which has recently been launched, is supported by Ona Carbonell as an ambassador for the Social Work and Financial Education of CECA.
The start of this collaboration represents another step in the commitment of CECA’s associated entities to continue educating as many athletes as possible in Financial Education. Alongside football, the Athletics and Swimming federations have already initiated the course, as well as the Higher Sports Council (CSD) and the Spanish Sports Association (ADESP), reaching over 500 athletes in total.
For the RFEF, this means continuing to contribute to the education of its federated athletes in a subject essential for their professional careers. Thus, it seeks to raise awareness among athletes about their finances so that they can best manage their income and investments, as well as plan for the “day after” their professional sports career.
The course is entirely flexible, lasts for 15 hours, and is easily adaptable to the schedules of athletes, as it can be combined with their training over a period of six months. In this way, students receive a series of materials and can access the program whenever and wherever they want.
On this occasion, CECA will support the delivery of the course to RFEF athletes through the Educational Group CEF.- UDIMA due to its extensive experience in the field of financial training.
According to Alberto Aza, spokesperson for CECA, “it is a pride to announce the inclusion of the RFEF in this project, which has been very well received among athletes. With their incorporation, we advance in our commitment to promote financial knowledge in the world of sports, a need that until now was not covered. Through this collaboration, we manage to extend the reach of the course through a very popular and influential sport.”
For her part, the president of the Educational Group CEF.- UDIMA, Aránzazu de las Heras, values the experience of the CEF.- business school in economic-financial matters, as evidenced by its 45 years of history in training, while expressing gratitude for the trust placed in its teaching staff by the RFEF.
