CECA Commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Legal Advisors’ Conventions
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Legal Advisors’ Conventions, CECA held a commemorative event bringing together its entities and authorities from the sector.
The event had the pleasure of featuring remarks from Mr. Francisco Serrano, President of Ibercaja Banco.
CECA celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Legal Advisors’ Conventions with a two-day meeting at its headquarters, where associated entities, sector authorities, and representatives from the Judiciary and the Public Prosecutor’s Office gathered to dialogue and reflect on current issues. A total of 150 participants attended the event.
Mr. Fernando Conlledo, Secretary General of CECA, was responsible for welcoming attendees at the opening of the convention and presenting the various sessions to be discussed on the 26th and 27th. In his speech, he highlighted the contribution of the financial sector to mitigate the effects of rising interest rates through the subscribed Codes of Conduct, as well as the commitments for the inclusion of elderly people and those in rural areas. He noted that these alternative mechanisms to traditional regulatory instruments allow for rapid advancement, as they are reached consensually, in a number of aspects, some of which are quite detailed and contain highly operational content. Furthermore, these instruments mitigate the negative impacts of hyper-regulation and serve as a good example of necessary public-private collaboration to meet citizens’ needs.
On his part, the President of Ibercaja Banco, Mr. Francisco Serrano, expressed the need for forums like the CECA Legal Advisors Convention, where attorneys from entities can reflect and debate on key regulatory and judicial matters, and encouraged CECA to continue promoting them.
The programs for both days included various presentations and round tables that delved deeply into the topics currently of greatest interest and concern to the banking sector.
This edition was also marked by the emotional tribute paid to Mr. Ignacio Redondo, who was the Director of Legal Advice at CaixaBank and a true example of dedication and commitment to his colleagues.
Finally, Mr. Fernando Conlledo closed the convention by thanking speakers and participants on behalf of CECA for the fruitful presentations, round tables, and debates, inviting all of them to the next session, which will be the 84th.
50 Years of Enriching Meetings
The first Legal Advisors’ Convention took place on December 6, 1973, and solidified as a professional meeting forum for the CECA sector. Years later, as we moved into the 21st century, participation was expanded to other entities with the intention of making this forum a reference point for the financial sector, addressing more issues for discussion, while not overlooking the analysis of jurisprudence and contractual law.
The convention has the pleasure of annually featuring the appearance of various authorities from the sector, Judiciary, and Public Prosecution, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Economy and Justice, the European Central Bank, the Bank of Spain, the National Securities Market Commission, the Registers, and Notary, among others. All of them contribute to the essence of what this forum encompasses through their contributions and knowledge of the financial system.
CECA has expressed its satisfaction with the success of the commemorative events for the 50th anniversary of the Legal Advisors’ Conventions and wished to thank all participants for their valuable contribution to the discussion of the legal and financial challenges facing the banking sector in Spain.
