Ona Carbonell: “In the last five years alone, CECA entities have allocated 3.776 billion euros to promote activities with social impact”
The Olympic swimmer participated in her first event as Ambassador of the Social Work and Action to present the Ten Commandments of the Social Work of CECA

Ona Carbonell participated today in an event as Ambassador of the Social Work and Action of CECA, where she presented the Ten Commandments of the Social Work. The event also featured the intervention of some participants from social projects promoted by the Social Work of the entities, with whom Ona Carbonell shared experiences and impressions.
Ona took the opportunity to highlight the work of all the people who strive daily to positively impact society: “Discovering the figures of actions with which the entities associated with CECA have contributed in recent years is impressive.” The swimmer asserted that she is fully aligned with the values of this initiative, with which she felt identified from the very beginning.
During the presentation of the Ten Commandments of the Social Work and Action of CECA, Carbonell emphasized that “the contribution to excellence in research and education is one of the strategic commitments, with more than 590 million euros invested in the last five years.” She also highlighted the commitment of all the involved entities, which make it possible to “help the progress of society and individuals through initiatives that promote entrepreneurship and the development of local economies and the well-being of communities, with over 6 million beneficiaries in the well-known empty Spain.” The Olympic swimmer did not forget to mention the investment allocated to sports and leisure by the Social Work, which in this period reached 127 million euros.
Finally, Ona Carbonell underscored the experience of the entities in social activities: “In just the last five years, the entities have allocated a total of 3.776 billion euros to promote activities with social impact that have benefited 167 million people,” she recalled.
In recent years, the investment in the activities of the Social Work and Action of CECA has increased by 14.6%, from 709 million dedicated in 2014 to 813 million in 2018. During that period, more than 550,000 activities were carried out by the Social Work.
Lastly, the Ambassador of the Social Work and Action of CECA reminded that “the citizens are the true protagonists, from those who benefit from the programs to those who participate in any of them, such as volunteers, workers, NGOs, and social entities.” In this sense, the Foundations through which the Social Work is channeled have particularly focused in the last five years on enhancing the investment aimed at children and youth, people at risk of social exclusion, or those over 65 years old, among others. The investment for these specific groups has exceeded 2.185 billion euros.
