The CGPJ and the associations of financial entities expand their collaboration agreements to include the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the European Prosecutor’s Office
The agreements regulate the requirements for banking information through the Judicial Neutral Point
Through this service, judicial bodies can quickly and securely request the necessary information for the processing of judicial proceedings, as well as order the execution of judicial actions such as freezes or seizures
The Spanish Banking Association (AEB), CECA, and the National Union of Credit Cooperatives (UNACC) have today signed with the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) the addenda to the agreements signed in 2020 in order to expand the commitment to collaboration with the inclusion of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the European Prosecutor’s Office.
The aforementioned agreements allow judicial bodies, and from now on also the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the European Prosecutor’s Office, to systematize the processing of requests for banking information of individuals and legal entities held by financial institutions that have adhered to the current agreements between the CGPJ and the aforementioned associations or adhere in the future, using the services of the Judicial Neutral Point. In this way, the processing times of matters and the security of operations are also improved.
The Judicial Neutral Point, launched by the CGPJ in 2002, is a communication network through which judges and magistrates can make inquiries in databases and be connected with third entities, whether public administrations, professional colleges, financial entities, or registries.
With this new step, the financial sector continues to lead the telematic services provided to collaborate in improving the efficiency of the administration of justice also at the European level.
