Savings and Initiatives Targeted at Youth Concentrate Consultations in the ‘Aula Financiera y Digital’
AEB, CECA and Unacc renew their commitment to training in financial knowledge and skills in digital channels, with new initiatives in the ‘Financial and Digital Classroom’, following its first year of operation
The three banking associations were awarded in 2022 with the ‘Finance for All’ award from the Financial Education Plan, promoted by the Bank of Spain, the CNMV and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, for the digital platform that gathers the main training initiatives in financial knowledge and digital skills promoted by the sector, of which 55% are workshops, seminars or training days, and 40% are conducted in person
The first year of operation of the ‘Financial and Digital Classroom’, the training platform promoted by the Spanish Banking Association (AEB), CECA, and the National Union of Credit Cooperatives (Unacc), shows that initiatives related to savings and those targeted at youth and adolescents arouse the greatest interest from visitors to the website.
Specifically, programs about savings account for 44% of queries, while topics related to digitalization represent one in four visits. By demographics, options aimed at adolescents and young adults have prompted three out of four consultations regarding initiatives focused on specific population groups.
The website, which renews its training offer on its first anniversary, includes the main initiatives of financial and digital education from the sector, of which more than half (55%) are workshops, seminars or conferences, with 40% having been conducted in person. It is noteworthy that more than 245,000 clients over the age of 65 have received financial and digital training, as noted in the Annual monitoring report of measures aimed at improving personalized care for older adults.
The contents of the ‘Financial and Digital Classroom’ respond to the needs and interests of the population and are classified into 14 topics of interest, including digitalization, cybersecurity, savings, or investments, as well as seven differentiated groups, including individuals over 65, people with disabilities, youth and adolescents, and persons at risk of exclusion.
For the ‘Financial and Digital Classroom’, launched in May 2022, the three banking associations (AEB, CECA, and Unacc) were awarded on October 3 with the ‘Finance for All’ award from the Financial Education Plan, promoted by the Bank of Spain, the National Securities Market Commission, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, for the dedication and commitment of the banking sector in the field of financial education.
The promoting associations, AEB, CECA, and Unacc, have been working for some time to facilitate access to knowledge and skills that make economic concepts and financial decision-making more understandable with a greater degree of information and independence, in line with commitments outlined in the Strategic Protocol to Reinforce the Social and Sustainable Commitment of Banking.
The latest available figures, relating to aggregated data from 2021, indicate that the banking sector’s commitment to financial and digital education has resulted in 3,836 activities and 38 million online accesses. If you wish to visit the platform, click here.
