Virtual Exhibition. “Learning to Save: The Teaching of Saving, Source of Financial Education”
We inaugurate the virtual exhibition “Learning to Save: The Teaching of Saving, Source of Financial Education.” This is the first virtual exhibition about saving in Spain, organized on the occasion of CECA’s 90th anniversary and with the aim of highlighting the CECA Historical Archive.
The exhibition is part of a month dedicated to financial culture, which begins with the celebration of Financial Education Day and concludes on World Savings Day, which is commemorated today around the world alongside the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute (WSBI). For all these reasons, the exhibition we inaugurate is a tribute to saving for its contribution to development and for being considered one of the good practices that help individuals to fulfill themselves, achieve goals, and secure a decent future. At the same time, the exhibition reflects a history that speaks to us of the evolution of the teaching of saving towards financial education.
The exhibition is structured into four rooms: Saving, The Teaching of Saving, Promotion of Saving, and Financial Education, in which the documents from the CECA Historical Archive have transitioned from the limited space of storage to a public virtual space that constitutes the exhibition, becoming a place for education, history, culture, and even leisure, while importantly providing access for the general public. The exhibition features around one hundred documents, selected from many others: brochures, posters, notebooks, cards, scores, advertisements in printed press, as well as piggy banks, audio files, commercials, and animated gifs created for the occasion. All documents and objects in the exhibition have a detailed description card. The last room, dedicated to financial education, informs about international initiatives, showcases financial education in Spain through Finanzas para Todos, and explains the international collaborations and national initiatives carried out by the CECA sector on this matter, including the Funcas Educa program.
