V Annual Congress ASUFIN: Credit, Savings, and Financial Exclusion
On Thursday, November 16, the V Annual Congress, organized by ASUFIN, took place, focusing on the central theme of credit, savings, and financial exclusion. Experts discussed the rising cost of living, risks associated with indebtedness, improvements in financial education, and financial inclusion, among other topics.
Juan Carlos López, Head of Sustainability and Stakeholder Relations at CECA, participated in the panel “Financial Exclusion: The Challenge of Achieving Full Financial Inclusion” alongside Mónica Correia, CEO of Nickel, Jordi Hereu, President of Hispasat, and Sabina Lobato, Director of Employment Training at the Fundación ONCE.
Juan Carlos emphasized that “in the first half of the year, over 277,000 clients over 65 years old have received financial, digital, and/or fraud prevention training, in line with the banking sector’s commitment to financial and digital education as well as addressing the needs of older individuals.”
Regarding financial inclusion in rural Spain, he highlighted that “by the end of 2022, 99% of the Spanish population had access to financial services, according to the financial inclusion report published by IVIE,” adding that “93% of municipalities with more than 500 inhabitants that did not have a physical access point to basic financial services a year ago now either have one or are in the process of installation, public tender, or in discussions with the Administration to have one in the coming months.”
