Tips to Avoid Falling for Phishing Scams

Cybersecurity Campaign of the Financial Sector and ‘Levanta la Cabeza’

Are you familiar with phishing? It is a scam conducted via email by cybercriminals to steal your data and money. You can see what it consists of in this video:

We provide you with some advice to avoid becoming a victim of phishing:

  • Verify the sender of the email. Cybercriminals use different techniques to impersonate official entities; however, sometimes they neglect certain details that expose them. For example, email addresses that do not correspond with the official addresses of the entities.
  • Always install applications from official sites like Google Play or the Apple App Store, where you will always find verified official applications from your bank. Moreover, these spaces have security systems and filters to prevent any operator from making fraudulent applications available to their clients.
  • Finally, never share your confidential data. If you receive such an email requesting that you provide your passwords, access keys, or bank card details at any point in the process, beware, it is a fraud! Contact your bank immediately through their official channels to report it and, if relevant, do so also with the State Security Forces and Corps.

This is the third spot launched by the associations AEB, CECA, Unacc, and ASNEF within the cybersecurity campaign initiated in October in collaboration with Levanta la Cabeza (Atresmedia), aimed at reinforcing the digital security of all users.
