Alberto Aza, spokesperson for CECA, participated in the II Financial Forum of El Debate held on Tuesday, September 24.

Financial inclusion, which aims to help those who have more difficulties (the senior population and the inhabitants of the depopulated areas of Spain, among others) better understand and manage their personal finances, exists in our country at a very high level, and continues to advance. This was affirmed at the round table on the subject that took place at the II Financial Forum of El Debate, featuring Lola Allepuz, commercial manager of MicroBank; Alberto Aza, spokesperson for CECA (Association of savings banks and banks), and José Luis Martínez, spokesperson for the Spanish Banking Association (AEB). The session was moderated by Susana Burgos, collaborator of El Debate.

Alberto Aza spoke about the existence of the Financial Inclusion Observatory, established in 2022. It updates the progress of the emergency plan enacted to ensure that 100% of the population is addressed regarding inclusion. The emergency plan continues to improve, although it started from already high rates. Furthermore, Aza emphasized the inclusion of seniors and individuals in rural areas. “The goal is to achieve total financial inclusion. Here, personal attention is very important. There will be populations that have never had an access point that will now have one, and training in financial matters, including digitalization, is equally key.”

In particular, in line with the inclusion of small populations, Aza stated: “We have managed to assist 72% of those who do not have access to cash or an office. We are quickly approaching 100%.”
