For an Artificial Intelligence Committed to People

On April 18, Julio César Fernández, from the Technological Services Area of CECA, participated in the reading of the “Manifesto for an Artificial Intelligence Committed to People” by the Internet Day Steering Committee, which was officially presented at the CLABE Editors Congress with a shared reading conducted by the attendees.

The XVIII Editors Congress is the most important annual event for the media and journalism sector, and this year it is taking place in Palencia, thereby supporting the decentralization of journalistic enterprises and the revitalization of empty Spain.

For 2024, the Internet Day Steering Committee, of which CECA is a part, unanimously approved that this year’s slogan would be “For an Artificial Intelligence Committed to People,” which will serve as a framework to focus the actions and messages of this day. With this purpose, a manifesto was drafted, which includes a ten-point declaration to promote access, use, and development of artificial intelligence (AI), aiming to place people at the center of an increasingly digitalized world.

Our colleague was tasked with reading point 3: Privacy by Design and Access to Data of the Manifesto. This points out the importance of integrating privacy measures from the initial phase of developing products and services based on AI, ensuring that the collection and processing of data are carried out in accordance with data protection regulations.
