CECA participates in the I Congress on Sustainable Finance
The Council of Sustainable Finance has held its first meeting, chaired by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Business, Carlos Cuerpo. The Council is made up of more than thirty representatives from public and private organizations, as well as the main leaders of associations within the financial sector, representatives from companies, the third sector, and scholars or recognized experts, including the General Director of CECA, José María Méndez. Its creation reinforces the public-private commitment to promote climate transition and the decarbonization of the economy, accompanying the private sector in its adaptation to the European framework of sustainable finance, forming part of the roadmap outlined in the Green Book on Sustainable Finance. The Council of Sustainable Finance presents itself as a tool for public-private collaboration enabling the financial sector, companies, and public administration to develop joint lines of action. In this first meeting, the work program was presented along with initial initiatives to be developed, as well as timelines for their implementation, confirming the commitment and willingness for public-private collaboration to advance on the agenda for ecological transition and the decarbonization of the economy. The program includes various actions structured around two axes aimed at promoting the adaptation of the financial sector and companies, particularly SMEs, and guiding savings and investment towards sustainability.
