PRESEA presents the charity auction for Ukraine ‘Art for Peace’, for the benefit of Cruz Roja

The Spanish Association of Montes de Piedad (PRESEA) has today presented the charity auction ‘Art for Peace in Ukraine’, featuring the participation of the Fundación Obra Social de Castilla y León (FUNDOS), Fundación Ibercaja, Fundación Unicaja, and Fundación La Caja de Canarias. These entities have contributed works from various artists in their communities, and the Spanish Red Cross will be responsible for sending the auction proceeds to Ukraine. Additionally, CECA has also collaborated with PRESEA in this solidarity initiative. The auction begins on May 13 and will remain active until May 19 at www.preseasubastas.es.

The presentation took place in the press room of CECA, with Mónica Malo, Director of Communication, External Relations, and Sustainability of CECA, representing the organization. José María Viejo, Director of Fundos, mentioned the reason behind this charitable initiative and highlighted the altruism of all the artists who donated their works for the auction. In the case of Fundos, the participating artists include Ángel Luis Iglesias, José de León, Eduardo López Casado, Fran de Gonari, Carlos Luxor, Guillermo Martín Bermejo, Carmen Coque, Ricardo Flecha Barrios, Daniel Pérez Álvarez, and Francisco Suárez.

José Luis Rodrigo, General Director of Fundación Ibercaja, spoke about the commitment of the entity to Ukraine and shared that they have contributed serigraphs by the Aragonese painter Ignacio Mayayo, works by Popi Bruned, and a casting by sculptor Pablo Serrano, among other pieces. Fernando Fernández Morales, General Director of Fundación Caja de Canarias, explained that ‘the commitment of this foundation goes beyond its geographical scope and that is why they have joined this auction.’ Teo Mesa, Antonio Pérez Martín, Félix Reyes, Germán Páez, Manolo Medina, and other artists have generously donated some of their works through their art.

Manuel García Rojas, Director of Monte Activo of Fundación Unicaja, mentioned some of the other initiatives in favor of the Ukrainian people that they have developed and thanked the donations from artists Paco Aguilar, Darko, José Medina Galeote, and Paco Lumbreras, who with ‘their altruism continue to help mitigate the damages of the war in Ukraine.’ Javier Senent, President of the Spanish Red Cross, expressed gratitude to PRESEA for choosing this entity to manage the money transfer to Ukraine, which will arrive in a ‘fast and secure’ manner.

Ramón Alba, President of PRESEA, closed the event by explaining that this is the first time the PRESEA auction platform has auctioned artwork since it is typically used for jewelry auctions. He noted that the artists have adjusted the prices of their works to make them accessible to a wider audience. The auction will begin on May 13 at www.preseasubastas.es.
