The Importance of Financial Education during Athletes’ Careers

After a year of the Financial Education course for athletes, we held a roundtable discussion with the aim of discussing the importance of financial education among active athletes in partnership with CECA.

To this end, we joined in this special MARCA podcast a representative from the CSD (Diego Barrio, Head of the High-Level Athlete Service of the Superior Sports Council), alongside CECA (Alberto AZA, spokesperson) and two high-level athletes (Laura Méndez and Javier Rodríguez). All moderated by Vicente Ortega, presenter of El Programa de Ortega on Radio MARCA.

We reviewed the federations that have joined the project and the number of athletes who have participated in the course to date.

– Laura Méndez, athletics athlete (34 years old). She is an Olympic athlete in Tokyo and preparing for Paris 2024. She has education related to sports.

– Javier Rodríguez, basketball athlete (21 years old). He is studying Business Administration at the University of Florida (Business and Management at Daytona State College) and plays on the basketball team.
