CECA at the WSBI Banking Innovation Expedition

From May 15 to 17, 2024, more than 75 delegates from entities associated with the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute (WSBI) gathered at the headquarters of CaixaBank in Barcelona for the multidisciplinary meeting: Banking Innovation Expedition: Exploring Retail Banking and SME Empowerment. Through various presentations and sessions, participants – from 26 countries across four continents – immersed themselves in the bank’s working model during the WSBI innovation days. Among them was Adrián Lorenzo, from the Institutional Relations department of CECA.

Topics discussed included AI and best practices in cybersecurity, as well as operational risk mitigation, sustainable banking, and enhancing customer experience. Furthermore, representatives from the compliance and legal departments detailed how they support back-end and front-end activities in a complex and constantly changing regulatory environment.

At the event, the General Director of WSBI-ESBG, Peter Simon, explained that WSBI leads transformative initiatives, being primarily a global network driven by a spirit of collaboration. He added that “these types of meetings respond to the needs of our members and are essential for promoting social progress and inclusive growth through the exchange of best practices.”

For his part, the president of CaixaBank, José Ignacio Goirigolzarri, noted in his welcome speech: “The way to understand the business at CaixaBank is through a very differential banking vision. A vision that is inclusive and very close to the real economy.”
