Last December marked ten years of the Law on Savings Banks and Banking Foundations (Law 26/2013). In the new episode of Ideas with Value, Javier Molina talks to Alberto Aza, spokesperson for CECA to understand the impact of this regulation on social work and the changes experienced since then.

“This Law brought about a radical transformation, leading to larger and more solvent groups, while preserving Social Work, the hallmark of the sector, which is carried out by foundations.” According to the spokesperson in the podcast, which you can now listen to on Ivoox, Spotify, and Apple Podcast, what is important is that despite these profound changes, “social work has emerged strengthened, because this law recognizes its importance as a hallmark of the entities.”

To understand the actions they carry out, Aza provided several examples, starting with children born in situations of social exclusion, “who have been able to complete their studies with some normality.” During the pandemic, for example, “thousands of tablets were distributed to the most vulnerable families to tackle school dropout.” There is also support for elderly people among many other actions: “With the elderly, specifically, the aim is to empower them so that they feel they are not a burden, but rather that they can contribute and add value.”
