The associated entities reaffirm their commitment to the victims and, together with the authorities and the private sector, promote solutions that allow for a quicker return to normalcy.
In light of the difficult economic, social, and personal situation caused by the recent passage of the DANA through Valencia and other areas of the country, which has generated severe material damage and affected thousands of people, the entities associated with CECA (CaixaBank, Kutxabank, Cajasur Banco, ABANCA, Unicaja, Ibercaja Banco, Caixa Ontinyent, Colonya Pollença, Cecabank, and over thirty foundations) have launched a broad package of measures to support the victims. These actions, aimed at alleviating the situation of affected citizens and businesses, complement other support initiatives in collaboration with the Government and various public and private entities.
On November 4, CECA, together with the banking associations AEB and Unacc, announced the implementation of a moratorium of up to three months, extendable, for loans for individuals, freelancers, and small businesses affected by the floods. This proposal was presented to the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Business to ensure it is legally articulated as soon as possible. In addition, work is being done in collaboration with the Official Credit Institute (ICO) to design a plan of action that contributes to mitigating the economic consequences of this disaster.
Moratoriums are being applied for loans to freelancers, SMEs, and individuals
Extraordinary financing lines have also been launched, complemented by a special line aimed at the agri-food sector, one of the hardest hit by the floods. With these measures, the aim is to provide liquidity and support to the farmers and small business owners affected by the storm.
Additionally, a line of advances on government aid has been established, which will be available to both individuals and freelancers, allowing them to obtain financing while awaiting the official aid. The entities are already collaborating with insurers to expedite the processing of indemnities and are providing priority telephone attention to the victims, guaranteeing a swift and efficient response.
In parallel, the banking entities announced the waiver of fees for cash withdrawals at ATMs and for maintaining Point of Sale Terminals (TPV) in businesses in affected areas, thereby facilitating the operations of these businesses. Furthermore, mobile offices have been deployed to assist with financial services in the most affected areas.
